Join the St Bartholomew the Great Heritage Trust
The ancient Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great requires constant support. To this end the St Bartholomew the Great Heritage Trust (successor to the Guild of Rahere) was established, uniting those who have a particular interest in and affection for the Church.
The Friends are an essential part of the Trust providing ongoing annual revenue, enabling the trustees to plan for future projects. The Friends, being re-launched in 2009, will now be divided into three different tiers of support:
Friends of the Cloister: Representing our contribution to enhancing the visitor experience, including educational materials and facilities.
Friends of the Quire: Representing our support of the tradition of formal worship and music and keeping the roof over our heads.
Friends of the Sanctuary: Representing the church’s furnishings, ornaments and treasures, its conservation, and its beauty.
All Friends receive a letter of welcome and details of special events for Friends. An annual report will again be issued. In addition to reporting on financial matters, it will include essays on the history of the Church and Priory and the continued work of maintenance and conservation.
Friends of the Quire will receive a copy of the Book of the Foundation and the poetry book “Awaiting an Epiphany”.
Friends of the Sanctuary will, in addition to the above, be invited to attend the annual Founder’s Dinner as a guest (in November) and receive an annual pass for visitor admission to the church.
We hope you will join the Friends of St Bartholomew the Great Heritage Trust, in doing so you will become a valued member of a community committed to the care of this beautiful and historic church.
